Church uses video conferencing for Valentine's Day festivities

Video conferencing has found many uses amongst businesspeople, doctors and law enforcement professionals. Now, a church in Staten Island, New York, will use the technology to bring an inspiring Valentine's Day message to its followers.

The Church at the Gateway will use video conferencing technology to connect parishioners with Emerson Eggerichs, the author of the best-selling book "Love & Respect," reports the Staten Island Advance. The book offers couples some tips for maintaining a happy marriage, with Eggerichs claiming that "one key word can revolutionize any marriage" and that, while love is vital, especially for the wife, a husband's need for respect is equally important.

The message is especially timely on Valentine's Day, when lovers around the country will celebrate their commitment to one another with gifts, flowers, dinner and other special gestures.

The book has sold more than 1.3 million copies. In addition to video conferences, Eggerichs and his wife of 36 years, Sarah, have spread their message through other media, such as Dr. James Dobson's "Focus on the Family" radio show.
