It is a well-known fact that web conferencing can help cut expenses associated with travel costs and professional development. However, one regional organization has reported substantial savings of more than $100,000 on annual professional development costs alone due to Internet-based web conferencing.
According to The Journal, the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB), a non-profit aimed at improving K-12 and higher education in Atlanta, said it has seen more than $110,000 in annual savings simply by using video conferencing technology to help with professional continuing education courses. The group accomplished this by presenting expert lecturers to speak with educators using integrated live video conferencing software instead of paying the costs associated with travel. The software allows educators the advantage of attending seminars with established professionals so they may interact and receive feedback in real-time .
As stated by Oxford College, students also find the flexibility of online learning via web conferencing extremely attractive because it offers the opportunity to properly manage time and pursue their studies when it is convenient. Some online programs remain open to both students and educators 24 hours a day.
