A recent report released by the International Data Corporation (IDC) shows the implementation of video conferencing is rapidly accelerating. The conferencing market jumped 20.5 percent in 2011 to reach revenues of $2.7 billion, which is a significant increase compared to 2010 where the growth rate was 16.6 percent.
"The enterprise video conferencing and telepresence market will continue to be one of the fastest growing networking markets for the foreseeable future," said Petr Jirovsky, senior research analyst at Worldwide Networking Trackers Research, according to the IDC press release.
The IDC report identified the markets that regularly use the software, as well as those groups that could see significant benefits from internet conferencing. These industries included manufacturing, retail, financial services, higher education, legal, law enforcement and healthcare.
Indications suggest the trend is likely to continue and that 2012 is projected to be just as profitable for the video and web conferencing market. As the technology becomes more efficient, it continues to remain affordable, easy to use and simple to incorporate in any business model.
